Skin Care Routine with Clarisonic: How to Stop Breakouts

Did you know that June is acne awareness month? To “celebrate” acne awareness month I got to partner with Clarisonic to test out their Clarisonic Mia 1 Device, Acne Brush Head and their Pore & Blemish Gel. This post is sponsored by Clarisonic and Her Campus Media, however, as always all opinions and thoughts are my own.

If you’ve followed me from a bit now, you would know that for years I’ve been a fan of Clarisonic and really believe that it saved my skin. I started using Clarisonic products 4 years ago when I received my first Clarisonic Mia for Christmas. After struggling with acne all throughout middle school, high school and still occasionally having breakouts, I knew when I heard about Clarisonic it was something that I wanted to invest in for the sake of my skin and I can honestly say, it’s changed my skin 100% for the better.

Clarisonic is the #1 cleansing device recommended by US dermatologists, which is why I instantly knew that I was going to be getting one of the best skin care devices out there and one especially, that I could afford. Although there are many similar devices out there, Clarisonic is one of a kind and worth the investment in your skin.

What makes Clarisonic so special is how it cleanses your skin. Clarisonic uses the patented range of sonic motion, oscillating back-and-forth over 300 times a second, to gently flex pores, without stretching or damaging the skin. Fluid forces thoroughly to flush makeup, sunscreen, impurities and pollutants to more effectively cleanse the skin.

If you’re trying to clear up your skin, removing makeup is a must. I am an avid makeup wipe user. They’re incredibly easy to remove your makeup and mess-free. However, even though it may look like I’ve removed all my makeup with just a makeup wipe, I’ve learned that after using my Clarisonic that isn’t the case at all. After cleansing my face with my Clarisonic, I can clearly see from all the makeup that is still on the brush head, that there is still so much makeup left on my face after removing my makeup with a makeup wipe. This means that before my Clarisonic, I had all that makeup still left on my face and my face wash that I’d follow-up after the makeup wipe was not actually cleansing my skin, but instead removing the rest of my makeup off my face.

So even though I’ve been using Clarisonic for years, I was still so excited to try out the Acne Brush Head and the Pore & Blemishing Gel, products that I’ve never tried before. My skin has been freaking out a little bit lately with some breakouts due to traveling so this duo could not have come at a better time.

Other than the green coloring on the brush head, the acne brush head looks just like any other brush. However, Clarisonic brushes specifically work for different things and this acne brush head is specifically tailored for individuals with acne prone skin. It features extra-plush bristles to concentrate on flushing out your pores, but are still gentle enough to not bother sensitive acne-prone skin.

The perfect thing about having breakouts at the moment, if there’s ever a great thing about breakouts, is that I got to really try out this acne product and see how it works with active breakouts. Otherwise, if I was having a good skin month, I wouldn’t be able to see if the acne products really worked. So I guess for the sake of my review, I’m okay with having breakouts.

After my experience of using both products for about 2 weeks, I have noticed that my breakouts have gone down and my skin definitely feels great. When you use the Pore & Blemish Gel Cleanser your skin will feel completely clean and your pores will definitely feel cleaned out. I especially noticed this on my T-zone area. It’s nice because although my face felt very clean, it didn’t feel squeaky clean or drying, which most deep-cleaning products tend to do to my skin. The Pore & Blemish Gel is safe to use every single day and your Clarisonic is gentle enough on your skin that it’s safe to use twice a day, morning and night. I, however, prefer to use my Clarisonic when I’m in the shower once a day during my night-time skin care routine.

If interested in trying out Clarisonic for yourself, now is definitely the time! When you use the code HERCAMPUS  you will receive 15% off all devices featured on this link here until July 15th. I highly recommend you try it out if you’re struggling with your skin or are looking to invest in some better skin care.
