Things To Do During Social Distancing: How to Stay Busy and Productive at Home

Things To Do During Social Distancing: How to Stay Busy and Productive at Home
Around the world, people are either self-isolating or in quarantine due to COVID-19.

A couple of weeks ago, I wrote a post about How to Stay Healthy When Traveling and Avoid Getting Sick and recently put out a post all about How to Productively Work Remotely at Home after the increase of companies making their employees start to work remotely at home.

It’s crazy how fast things can change.

It seems every day more cities in the U.S. and around the world are on complete lockdown.

In Australia, over the past couple of days, regulations have been getting more intense. We are now told that all non-essential businesses are to be shut in NSW, along with some other states in Australia. This means a lot of people are either going to be working from home now or home and not working.

It is our responsibility for the betterment of society to social distance ourselves from others. Not only is this putting your health in jeopardy by going out to malls, bars, and highly populated areas if they’re still open, but you’re putting your friends, family, and community at risk as well.

Recently, I’ve seen a lot of people posting on social media not knowing what to do to pass the time until hopefully, COVID-19 gets under control.

You don’t have to stay busy if you don’t want to, but I know personally, to keep myself sane during self-isolation, I need to stay busy.

If you’re like me and need to stay busy, I’ve included a FREE PRINTABLE list of things you can do when self-isolating to stay busy and productive. I wanted to create a variety of different ideas or tasks you can accomplish with social distancing and spending more time at home.

Whether you’re unemployed, in quarantine due to recent travels or working remotely from home, the list below will hopefully help you pass the time and use this time of social distancing to your advantage.

Obviously this situation is far from ideal, but with all the stress we’re all facing, trying to think of the positives of this situation (there aren’t many in my opinion) and think of using this time to tackle the tasks that you’ve been putting off.

Life can slip away really quickly and this is the perfect time to tackle those areas that you could never find the time to before.

In this printable, I wanted to include a mixture of cleaning, organizing, tasks you can do to improve yourself mentally and physically and also some reminders to call and stay in contact with your loved ones during this hard time.

As I mentioned in my How to Productively Work Remotely at Home, I fully believe that the state of your space directly correlates how you feel internally. We’re all super stressed at the moment, but taking the time to give yourself some self-love and cleaning and decluttering your home during this stressful time will improve your mental well being immensely.

I also think that it’s also important to be grateful. If you’re working remotely at home, although it may not be considered ideal, think of yourself as lucky, as many people don’t have the opportunity to even do that.

I recommend you use this list as a jumping-off point on creating your own list on how to stay busy. This past weekend, I sat down and made my own list inspired by the printable above. I wrote down everything and anything I could think of. That way if we’re moping around the house feeling like there’s nothing to do, I now have over three pages of things that I can do to spend my time.

I hope this list inspires you to stay busy and to use this time to take care of yourself, your family and your space.

In the next coming days, I will have more posts all about getting through COVID-19, both mentally and financially.
